Environmental Commitment
Dan Kukat, the founder and owner of SpringTide, volunteers a great deal of his time to the preservation and conservation of our marine mammals and their environment.
Serving multiple 2 year terms as the elected President and Vice President of the Pacific Whale Watch Association, Dan is actively involved in the formation and promotion of the “Best Practices Guidelines and Regulations” of the Whale Watching Industry.
Dan also sat on the Pacific Marine Mammal Advisory Council advising the Federal Government on Regulations for private and commercial marine mammal watching. As a Federally appointed member of the Canadian Sport Fish Advisory Board, Dan advises the Federal Government on Sport Fishing regulations. Also on the Race Rocks Marine Protected Area Advisory Board, Dan has been instrumental in the development of Canada’s first Marine Protected Area!
Asked to present at Marine Mammal Symosiums and often invited as a guest speaker for University and College Biology and Naturalist courses, Dan is always excited to share his broad knowledge of ecology and wildlife. This academic support has included support to University Graduate Students, at both the Masters and PhD. Candidate level. Dan is well known for sharing his time and passion for the protection of our mammals and environment.
Whale watching tours are highly entertaining and enjoyable as well as super informative! SpringTide is proud to have very knowledgeable crew that educate their passengers on the wildlife found in these waters. With awareness comes understanding and realization of the issues that these animals face in their natural environment.
